The Old monkeys and the apes were living in the tropics of Africa and Asia, and the New World Monkeys were living in America. Although monkeys appear to have same external appearances, a closer look reveals distinctive and unique differences between the Old World monkeys in the New World (American) monkeys. This paper aims to compare the New World and Old World monkeys.On one hand, the Old World Monkeys are generally larger in size. They have flat fingernails in instead of sharp. Also, their nostrils point downward and narrow. Most of them have butto cks with paddling and without hair. These monkeys can be found on lands and in trees. The common monkeys under this category include the Snow Monkeys and Baboons (Jurmain, Lynn, and Wenda 45). On the other hand, New World Monkeys are generally smaller in size. They have sharp and long fingernails since they spend most of their times in trees. They have relatively wider and round-shaped nostril. As opposed to the Old Monkeys, they donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬t have padding and cheek pouches in their buttocks. The New World Monkeys can see the world in color the same way as human beings while the Old World monkeys can only see the world in black and white. It is believed that it is due to genetic mutation.Regarding their dental formulae, a study on the New World and Old World monkeys reveals that the New World monkeys have three premolars and molars rather than two. Their molars are comparatively larger as compared to the Old World monkeys. Also, the New World monkey's last molar is relatively smal ler, and in some cases, it is missing at all. On the other hand, the Old World monkey's premolars in the mandible are sectorial, i.e. they majorly use them in sharpening the upper canine. Socrates definition of the good life is being able to fulfill the â€Å"inner life† by inquiring and expanding the mind to the greatest extent possible. Socrates would agree with the good life being more important than life itself. If today’s society was asked the question regarding which one is more important, my guess will be that not many will even be able to differentiate. It will be a very controversial discussion with a lot of bias opinions. David Hume is one of the philosophers who would disagree with Socrates. My Experiences Listening to a Live Performance of Christian McBride Big Band. I have never been in a jazz club before. I always wanted to attend a live performance of American jazz musicians and learn more about the history of jazz. It was one of the reasons I chose this class in the first place. From my perspective, I view jazz together with classical instrumental music as elegant and exclusive. I associate it with luxurious restaurants, theaters, places like Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, where people with great taste and deep understanding of music come to enjoy performances and celebrate important moments in their life. For my final paper I had an opportunity to visit the famous Village Vanguard jazz club on January 12th, 2014.†¦show more content†¦I am not even sure which part was improvisation and which part was planned because Blake’s solos sounded very cerebral, relaxing, harmonious, soulful and pure. Todd Bashore, an alto saxophonist, sounded to me more di scordant, extremely energetic, fast, brisk, and unstoppable. Bashore seemed to want to show his best skills in improvisation on his alto saxophone and it looked like he could do it for hours. Steve Wilson, an alto saxophonist who was sitting next to him, kind of gave him hints that it was time to stop. I found it was interesting and pleasant to see how passionate a musician can be in his play, so much that time stops for him while he is in the flow state. I really liked Ron Blake because I associated him somehow with John Coltrane, but playing slower and calmer. Ron Blake’s music sounded to me like a mellow, sensual mix of modal jazz, cool jazz and smooth jazz in Shake and Blake and Black Narcissist. What I liked about Steve Wilson was that during almost the entire performance he sat, eyes closed and joyfully moving his head with the rhythm of the melody. I could feel easiness and bluesiness in his musical approach when he played Shake and Blake, Black Narcissus, and Gettingà ¢â‚¬â„¢ to It.
